There is interest, but the duration of the event would likely need to be cut down a bit. It also works out well early in the event or as a Sunday afternoon thing when we have smaller numbers.

Hey, Ted, you should come down to the park in a couple weeks, and we can maybe playtest a streamlined version. I liked your game last year(although I was sad that I lost), and I think it has promise as Glenalth said for when we are just starting or just finishing.

What are you talking about, Loki was so good that I had to Finger of Death him while I was in a completely different tournament round...

Well, I'm willing to put an age limit on the people who enter the tournament if that is something people desire.

It's really called the Lottery of Doom on the chance you might get a sucky partner though. I have to admit, Alucard, you put him to good use making him distract Styxx so you could shoot at him.

Couple of things I was thinking about doing ...

To shorten it up ... I was thinking about giving everyone just 3 lives. I like the idea of doing the event in that same open area so people can watch but I think I should rope off a good chunk of the woods. I liked giving people SOME woods, but maybe only let them go out about 20 yards or so ... that way we're not spending .. 10 minutes of the 15 minute fight with ALucard searching the forest for Styxx ... which I actually thought was pretty damn cool from my perspective.

Anyhow, if each team has 3 lives ... and I'll probably tell magic users they CAN NOT buy the "vivify" spell for an extra life ... and each round the team with the most kills wins.

I was also thinking about letting the barbarian act as if they were on their last 3 lives too so they aren't ripped off of their fight after deaths.

Again, I'm coming to PV this weekend so if you guys want to test run it, I'll be glad to do so. Cool thing about your park is that you actually have enough people to do it.

I want to be a Tavern Helper, Feast Server, and work as Feast Staff. Also, if I can help cook the feast itself, I'd be big help (fresh out of culinary school!).

Changing it to a team life pool would work to shorten it. You would be forced to protect your partner and the weaker partner would likely be the main target of the other team. It also gives you an additional scoring method if needed for breaking ties

A pool of 6 lives per team means that 6th level Barbarians could go berserk as soon as there had been 3 deaths on the team. (6 lives -1 for partner, -3 for deaths).

Could even use a pile of stones at the "base" of each team to keep track of lives if needed. Each time a player comes alive they take a stone off the pile.

The only weird rules interactions that happen with this method are that class abilities and magics that affect life total need to be ditched amd a Monk's Transfer Life ability is a 1/game quick resurrection with no drawbacks if you use it on your own team since you are transferring a life to yourself.

Could just shift the location to the area between the fork in the road and tell people that they cannot cross the roads or the ditch that separates that area from the pond. People would have a large area with some trees and the flat areas of the roads.

I like the idea of having the team a set amount of lives. I have a few things I'd want to require if we were going to let a team pool their lives like that.

1) If you die, unless your team is out of rocks, you HAVE to respawn. If Alucard draws Loki again, he can't have Loki just stay out of the way and not use up the teams lives. Loki can go run away and stay out of the fight if he's willing to do that, but he has to respawn. I really want this to be a team game and I want to encourage people to learn to work with people they may not have before.

2) I will still likely set a time limit on matches and in the case of I tie, I'd say go to sudden death and the next kill wins.

The only reason I might protect the "3 lives per player," is that I like the idea that if your teammate gets shattered, you're by yourself so long as you don't get killed. I like that it can be 2 on 1. I'd like to see a skilled player try to win by him/herself. I'm open minded to both methods and I'm more than willing to try to test both ideas out to see which works better.

I also agree to get rid of spells and abilities that grant an extra life. Get rid of vivify and get rid of the Monk's transfer life spell.

If she went to Culinary school ... I'd vote for her to be part of the people who cook! LOL

I'm not seeing any reason to get rid of Transfer Life. It's just slightly more powerful in this situation. Just like Barbarians and per game magics when you have a reduced life count game.

There is also still the possibility of having 1 vs 2 at the end when that team is on it's last life.

Cool on the transfer life ... so just nix 'Vivify' basically?

I can see that. I still say between now and HW, we try to run one of each. Are you going to make it out to the park this weekend? If not, should I contact someone in advance to make sure they're on board with me doing this? Maybe Tiwaz since he's champion right now?

Well Vivify, and extra lives granted to Warrior, Monk, Barbarian, and Archer through their abilities.

I will probably not be out this weekend. Tiwaz or Cassandrah are your best bet, the only thing I know of that's going on this weekend is the Champion's Tournament and that's only 2 people so it should be short.

I would probably like you to participate in the event as you can never tell how difficult it will be to get people involved. If we have plenty of people, sure. But email me your ideas and we'll talk. I'll try to get to the park early on Saturday to set it up. Can you call people or contact people (Tiwaz and/or Cassandra) and talk about us doing it this weekend?

I graduated top of my class, too! I really would like to help cook but if they don't want too many people in the kitchen or whatever then that's cool.
Plus, if I were them I probably wouldn't want a ninja cooking MY dinner either, no matter HOW good she was.

We just need folks to serve the food. Feast is being catered by the event site so that we can have more free time to have fun. You could always volunteer to help them if you wanted to.

So, if I wanted to be a Gate Goon, would someone help me figure out what to do and all?...I have no former expirience with it, but I'd like to learn. If not, I would like to help out with either Feast Servers and or Feast Staff.

Yeah, there would be instruction on what is going on. When we get a bit closer to the event we'll start filling time slots on that.

Ok cool, I would be interested in filling a Gate slot whenever I learn how to do things, or whatever.

So I keep leaving my cell at home and not calling you back, I have no qualms with you running whatever you want. The only thing which has already been mentioned by you was the Champions tourney, that will take about 10 minutes give or take so the rest of the time is yours.

Awesome. Glenalth, Lurker & I had some ideas on how to make the tourny better and we wanted to try them out. We'll be there no later than 1 unless Lurker and work out a time to meet early and discuss. Look forward to seeing you guys tomorrow.

We can see about adding that, but I think some sharing would be in order.

I need someone to help me out when I'm gate goon so I either don't screw up, or am not lonely. :) I don't want my shift to intereact with any (Main) event, please.

We won't be filling gate shifts until much closer to the event. All gate shifts will be during some sort of event as we won't have gate open late night but I'll make sure you get one of the first picks for shifts.
