New to making armor, I have a couple of questions.

I am wondering, what is the thickness required for the batting in Quilted armor, and if batting is necessary for padded armor or just four layers of cloth, and how thick the cloth should be? Also, what type of studs are allowed for armor, what is the minimum allowance for studs?

In order:
1) There is no thickness requirement, but if it's not obviously padded people might not let it count, so use your discretion.
2) Batting or padding is not necessary for (non-quilted) cloth armor; if you have four layers of cloth and no padding, it is okay.
3) There is no requirement again, but if you are using unusually sparse or thin cloth(cheesecloth, jersey material, anything sheer, etc), people may be unwilling to count it as armor(or -1 for inferior quality, etc).

I don't understand your other questions.

What kind of studs are

What kind of studs are allowed? Can they be the hollow kind you can buy from hobby shops, or do they have to be solid?

We don't have any rule for that either, they just have to be studs.
