These rules for advancement were voted on by guild members in early 2002.

All members may wear a favor displaying the guild crest.

- Must hold an armoring workshop or similar event to instruct people in at least one form of armoring (a different armor type from the previous workshop).
- Must write a 750 word minimum article on armor construction or an armor related subject.
- Earn 2 additional patches.
Master of the Armorers Guild:
- Must make two pieces of armor of two different armor types that are considered masterworks by the guild.
Masters within the guild may add a red slash across the anvil of their favor.
Armor Patches:
Patches may be added to your guild crest to show the types of armor you are proficient at making. There is no set design for the various patches, but try to make them resemble the type of armor they represent.
You may add a gold border if you have made a masterwork item of that type.
You may add a silver border if you have taught someone to make or have held an armoring workshop about making that type of armor.
Current armor types for patches are: Padded/Quilted, Leather, Mail, Scale, Lamellar, Brigandine, Plate. This does not cover every type of armor, but additional types for patches can be approved by the guild.
Masterwork Evaluations
All masterwork submissions must be inspected by 3 guild members of Journeyman rank or higher. All 3 members have to agree that the armor is masterwork quality to be accepted. The inspection should be in person, but photos can be accepted if there is no other way to have it inspected.
Patches
Going over this I noticed there is no real requirement to patches other than being "proficient". Probably not a big deal as long as everyone is honest though.
